Bohecker's was founded in Kent, Ohio in September of 1922 by Blanche Bohecker Keefer Brown. In 1925, at the suggestion of Martin L. Davey, Bohecker's was moved to Ravenna and located in Riddle Block One.

In 1940, the first electric typewriter was purchased to train young men and women for positions in the offices of the Ravenna Arsenal. Shortly after WWII, Bohecker's updated its equipment to include electric adding machines, additional electric typewriters and electric comptometers.

Jean Keefer Wise joined the staff of Bohecker's as Director in 1950. Eventually, the school outgrew these premises and in 1970 it moved to 151 East Main Street. Also in 1970, Jean Wise and Marie Ziegler purchased stock and Bohecker's was incorporated. Mrs. Brown retired in 1978 from the Presidency but was the majority stockholder until her death in 1979.

In 1978, Bohecker's became Bohecker's Para-professional Institute, Inc. and offered programs in Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting, Optometric Assisting, and special classes for teaching the subjects necessary to meet the requirements for GED.

Bohecker's once again moved in 1982 to the newly remodeled Riddle Building located at 159 East Main Street. At that time, Bohecker's decided to offer Medical Assisting Technology only; however, they added Personal Computer Training under the direction of Carolee Wise, the third generation of the family to participate in the college. As a result of this move, the stockholders were reduced to only Jean Wise and Marie Ziegler.

Bohecker's Business College was accredited by the Association of Independent Colleges and Schools in 1986, and moved to Plaza East in 1991 to give the students the most up-to-date surroundings. Also in the nineties, Jean Wise sold the school and became Executive Director Emeritus.

Many thousands of graduates have passed through the portals of this institution and have found employment opportunities in many of the fifty states and other countries.
