NIT Southfield
In early 2001, a branch campus of Southfield was opened in Dearborn,
Michigan to better accommodate the needs of the students. Our Southfield
campus has spacious facilities containing classrooms designed for
theory and laboratory instruction.
Medical Assistant Diploma
The Medical Assistant program prepares graduates for entry-level
work as both clinical and administrative assistants to doctors in
offices and clinics. Graduates will gain thorough knowledge of anatomy,
basic clinical and laboratory tasks, and administrative duties.
The College offers both a certificate and diploma Medical Assistant
program. Courses in these programs include: Musculoskeletal and
Nervous Systems, which is the study of anatomy, physiology, diseases,
and examination and investigation procedures of the muscular, skeletal,
and nervous systems; Hematology and Microbiology studies structure,
composition and function of the blood, as well as blood diseases;
and Pulmonary and Cardiovascular Systems, which teaches structure
and function of the respiratory cardiovascular system, diseases
and investigation procedures, EKG equipment, physiology, and basic
interpretation of arrhythmias.
Medical Administrative Assistant Diploma
The healthcare field offers a variety of interesting and challenging
career opportunities to graduates of the Medical Administrative
Assistant program. In this program, students receive training that
emphasizes the administrative and business aspects of managing a
medical or dental office. With strong administrative skills, graduates
can become an integral part of a healthcare facility. Entry-level
positions as receptionists, insurance processors, medical records
clerks, and medical transcribers are found in medical and dental
offices, hospitals, clinics, home health agencies, and insurance
companies. Students in this program develop administrative skills
through a variety of media including personal computers, calculators,
transcription machines, and teletrainers.
