Programs
The Core 640 Hour Massage and Health Care Technician
Program reflects the school's desire to provide an integrated educational foundation for the contemporary massage therapist that prefers a less rigorous science curriculum with a more hands-on approach to their learning.

This program is designed for those whose current life commitments do not allow for outside study time. Students have the option of completing the externship throughout the program length, thus shortening the total length of the program. In addition to receiving a comprehensive massage therapy education, the 640 hr. program student studies the principles of various systems of medicine including naturopathic, chiropractic and allopathic, and acquires the skills in patient care and assessment needed to work in these medical settings. 640 Hour Program Details

This program is a very rewarding 8 to 10 month commitment offering the graduate training and the expertise to couple a massage practice with employment as a health care assistant, chiropractic assistant or the option of self-employment. Self-employed massage therapists earn anywhere from $35 to $60 per session in Arizona. This depend upon the therapists level of training and experience in the field. Health Care Assistants and Chiropractic Assistants can earn $8.00 to $15.00 per hour working in a doctor’s office, plus benefits usually

This program is a modular program. All students start in the "white" orientation module, which provides the foundations of bioscience and massage on which the remaining rainbow colored modules are built.

The Core 760 Hour Therapeutic Massage Program is designed for the student who wants massage therapy training with an in-depth Anatomy and Physiology education. This program offers almost 300 classroom hours of biosciences and prepares the student to sit for the National Certification Examination. Throughout PTMC’s twenty year history, its students have been sought because of the depth of their science-based curriculum.

This program has been completely designed with the competencies set forth by a nationally recognized certification board. This program is recognized by Central Arizona College. Students may be dually enrolled at PTMC and CAC and obtain a regionally recognized Associates Degree by completing additional credits at CAC.

Successful completion of this program also prepares the student for entry into one of the advanced programs, if s/he desires to continue in a Spa and/or Sports Specialty Training. 760 Hour Program Details

Many spas and professional clinics prefer this certification of distinction. A massage therapy license qualifies the student to work in private practice or to be employed as a therapist. Compensation for an independent massage therapist is approximately $35.00 to $60.00 per session in Arizona.

1000 Hour Therapeutic Massage with Spa Specialty Program

After completing either the 760 Hour Therapeutic Massage Program, or the 640 Hour Massage & Health Care Technician Program, the student may choose advanced spa therapy training. The 1000 Hour Therapeutic Massage with Spa Specialty Program offers the student 240 hours of advanced training in the most popular spa treatments offered in today's five-star resorts and spas.

Many top spas require a 1000 hours of training and national certification for employment. The Spa Specialty Program at PTMC truly prepares graduates for employment in the most elite facilities. Licensed Massage Therapists average making $10 - $20 more per therapy for spa treatments, not to mention the increased "tip" potential. The 1000 hour programs follow the Monday through Thursday schedule until the advanced training begins. At this time, all advanced courses are held 8:00am to 5:00pm, Mondays and Tuesdays only. .
1000 Hour w/ Spa Specialty

After completing either the 760 Hour Therapeutic Massage Program, or the 640 Hour Massage & Health Care Technician Program, the student may enter our most comprehensive training program. Many spas and professional clinics prefer this certification of distinction. The students who choose this program are highly encouraged to pursue national certification as well as consider being dually enrolled in an associate degree program at Central Arizona College.

The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) reports a definite increase in the use of massage therapy and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) notes a 55% growth in personal fitness training. We are very excited to offer this integrated curriculum, combining the sciences of anatomy, physiology and kinesiology needed to prepare a graduate for national certification as a massage therapist, as well as a nationally recognized certification in Personal Fitness Training. Graduates are also prepared to sit for a third certification in Sports Nutrition if they so desire

Along with a very focused massage therapy curriculum; a state of the art, integrated approach to personal fitness training is taught including neuromuscular stabilization (balance), core stabilization, integrated flexibility training and strength training in a progressive system. Graduates of this program have all the employment opportunities of massage therapy, as well as those of personal fitness trainers. Self-employment or employment with a spa, resort, fitness center or rehabilitation center are possible.
