Since its inception in 1986, the Professional Truck Driver Institute, Inc. (PTDI) has become the nation's foremost advocate of optimum standards and professionalism for entry-level truck driver training.

The importance of the Institute's mission is punctuated by the fact that for all its vastness, in the final analysis the success of the industry rests in the hands of its 2.9 million drivers -- who take the wheel and assure that more than $38 billion worth of products annually move across America efficiently, safely, and in concurrence with all the rules.

The driver must be highly trained and deftly skilled. Towards those ends, the Institute is credited with developing the first voluntary curriculum and certification standards recognized by both the industry and government and continually seeking improvements.

Under the auspices of America's trucking industry, the Institute also serves as a public forum where stakeholders -- motor carriers, insurers, schools, government bodies, safety advocates, and the news media -- can join hands in the task, assuring that America's lifeblood movement of goods is in the hands of the best trained and safest drivers.
