Programs of Study

ASSOCIATE IN SCIENCE DEGREE PROGRAMS

Accounting/Computer Operations
This program recognizes the interdependence of modern accounting and computer information techniques. This program is designed to explore both worlds. In these changing times, it is beneficial for the accountant to attain knowledge of electronic management of data. Conversely, those who aspire to a career in computers should have knowledge of the techniques for gathering data, for validity and interpreting the results of business financial information. This program affords the benefits of both fields by offering the student the theoretical and practical approaches.


Computer Aided Drafting and Design
The Computer Aided Drafting and Design program is designed to prepare the student for employment as a technical draftsperson. Graduates of the program will be able to develop technical drawings with both computer-aided drafting software and manual drafting tools. Concentrations will be in the area of architectural drafting; however, students will be introduced to other disciplines such as civil, structural, electrical/electronic, and mechanical drafting. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates may pursue entry-level positions in drafting, product design, cartography, estimating, sales and quality control.


Graphic Design
The Graphic Design Program is designed to provide the student with those entry-level skills and competencies needed to become a graphic designer and desktop publisher. The program allows students to focus on recruiting appeal to consumers with elements of advertising copy and layout. Students will acquire a working knowledge of balance, structure and unity in the graphic process and be able to provide and maintain creative comprehensive layout and design applications and properly communicate image style. The Graphic Design Program will familiarize students with the standards governing the ever-evolving business of graphic design. As a capstone project, students will construct a professional portfolio demonstrating their graphic and desktop proficiency. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates can pursue entry-level positions as a graphic designer, artist, illustrator, desktop publisher, or cartoonist.


Information Technology Management
The Information Technology Management program is designed to provide students with the practical skills and knowledge necessary for a career in the Information Technology field. This program develops a practical knowledge of personal computer hardware and operating systems, network technician practices, along with software applications and programming fundamentals. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates can pursue entry-level careers as technical professionals.


Microsoft® Network Engineer & Database Administrator
The Microsoft Network Engineer & Database Administrator degree program is designed to prepare individuals to enter a career in network administration & management. Students are provided with the practical skills and knowledge necessary to design, implement, and maintain computer networks. Emphasis is placed on network operating systems, infrastructure, security, and database implementation. Students in the degree program will develop a solid foundation in computer hardware and software troubleshooting techniques along with business and general education courses to provide a well-rounded academic experience.


Microsoft® Network Engineer & Database Administrator/Certificate
The Microsoft Network Engineer & Database Administrator program is designed to prepare individuals to enter a career in network administration. Students are provided with the practical skills and knowledge necessary to design, implement, and maintain computer networks. Emphasis is placed on network operating systems, infrastructure, security, and database implementation.


Microsoft® Network Engineer & Database Administrator/Diploma
The Microsoft Network Engineer & Database Administrator program is designed to prepare individuals to enter a career in network administration. Students are provided with the practical skills and knowledge necessary to design, implement, and maintain computer networks. Emphasis is placed on network operating systems, infrastructure, security, and database implementation. Students in the diploma program will also develop a solid foundation in computer programming along with PC hardware and software troubleshooting techniques.


Technical Administration and Management
This program is designed to recognize and add to a vocational program of at least 900 clock (contact) hours of instruction completed in an adult postsecondary vocational or technical environment. The student must have graduated from an approved program of instruction from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the United Stated Department of Education. The Technical Administration Management program adds to the vocational program 32 quarter credits hours in specific courses in Administration, Business, and Computer Application, plus 24 quarter hour credits in General Education, The combination of the vocational/technical experience plus the 56 added credits creates an educational experience that the graduate can present to an employer.
